Welcome to

The London University Swimming Team (LUST) is a team dedicated to improving fitness and swimming ability of London's students. With up to 4 sessions a week we cater to all abilities, from non-competitive fitness swimmers up to national level competitions. We are a large, very friendly and social club, one of many sports/societies at Student Central - made up of many universities across London! The club caters for a wide range of abilities; from competitive swimmers, to those who simply want to keep fit & swim.

The only prequisite if that you must already know how to swim!

If you wish to give us a try and come and have a free swim, then please do! You will need to book a taster session online here to see when you are able to come along. Once you have secured a place, then you need to come back to this page, login and purchase the free taster session pass available on the right hand side. Please note, the taster session pass is only valid the week you buy it on this page, so ensure you only purchase it once you have secured a place and the same week you are going to the taster.

What We Do

The sessions are usuallly run by two different coaches. They run at the same time and swimmers are split between competitive lanes and non-competitive lanes. Choosing which lane you want to swim in is up to the swimmer and sets ususally range from 2.5-3.5 kilometres in the competivite lanes, and 1.5-2.5 kilometres in the non-competitive fitness lanes.

We have frequent socials throughout the year so everyone can get to know each other both in and out of the pool, some of our favourite fancy dress themes are 'Baywatch' and Angels and Devils. We also host black tie Christmas dinners, and a celebratory Awards Dinner at the end of the academic year.

Training runs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7-8pm for all swimmers. Additional training for competitive swimmers runs on Sunday 4:30-5:30pm. All sessions take place at Energybase.

Each year we send a team to represent at BUCS Short course, Long course, Team Qualifiers, and (if we make it) Team Finals. In addition to this we participate in annual friendly galas in Oxford and Manchester for all members, and there are many chances over the year to race in fun galas in our home pool. There are a great deal of social events throughout, and we run a yearly swimming tour where we visit holiday destinations in Europe, usually held after exams giving people a chance to let loose at the end of the academic period!

Recently we've had many admirable performances at university level, with standouts being 3 bronze and 1 silver medal being won at BUCS open events over the past 4 years. In addition we have sent swimmers to the British Olympic and Commonwealth trials on separate occassions.

All members attending training sessions in Energybase facilities will be required to purchase an Energybase membership: a day pass or 1, 3 ,6 or 12 month passes are available. Holders of a current club or society full membership will qualify for a discounted rate on an annual pass.
