What is ULCC
The University of London Chamber Choir (ULCC) is a high standard, dynamic and expressive choral ensemble based in Central London. We are student-run but professionally directed under the expert baton of our conductor, Olivia Shotton. We rehearse during term time on Tuesday evenings during term time from 6:30 to 8:30, and aim to perform 10 - 12 concerts throughout each academic year.
Our group of 30 singers are students and alumni mainly from colleges and institutions within the University of London. However, we are unique among other university choirs in that we open our membership to all students and alumni of any London-based higher educational institution. Our members come from all around the world, and together make up a choir that encompasses many different cultural, religious or non-religious backgrounds, and orientations and identities.
We choose our repertoire from an extensive variety of sacred and secular music, from the Early Renaissance to the Modern Day and make several performances throughout the academic year.
Where do we rehearse and perform?
We rehearse during term time, on every Tuesday evening at 6:30-8:30 at St Mary Le Strand, London WC2R 1ES.
Usually, we perform between 3 to 5 times a year. This includes concerts, choral Evensong, informal carol singing and some specialist work for a private clients, businesses, and podcasts. The choir usually performs in 1 Evensong on a Sunday evening each month at St Mary Le Strand, which members are strongly encouraged to to participate in, however this is not compulsory.
The high standard and success of our choir rests on the commitment of its members. Therefore attendance at these rehearsals and concerts is compulsory.
We accept that sometimes difficulties or clashes arise, and if this is the case, we ask that you let us know in advance so that we may plan ahead.
Our less formal events and tours are most often held on a voluntary basis.
