Rowing

The University of London Boat Club (ULBC or UL) is the rowing club for the University of London with membership open to students of all of its constituent Colleges. As with other collegiate universities, many of the University of London's colleges have their own boat clubs. Members of these college boat clubs who feel strong enough can trial for a place in the squad of The University of London Boat Club to compete at an elite level.

Based in Chiswick, West London, the University of London Boat Club’s High-Performance Programme is recognised and supported by the GB Rowing Team and funded through the National Lottery, providing a pathway for athletes onto the U23 and Senior GB Rowing Teams.

ULBC has a track record of coaching rowers to challenge for a place in the GB Rowing National Squads and is committed to Rowing’s World Class Performance Strategy.

What We Do

ULBC have a distinguished history of producing athletes who have gone on to represent Great Britain in rowing at the Olympics and World Championships. ULBC has been represented at every Olympic Games since 1960, has more Henley Royal Regatta wins than any other British University in history, and has won at least one event a year at Henley Women's Regatta for the past 20 years. ULBC has produced a huge number of international representatives, many of whom have then gone on to medal or win at Senior and U23 World Championships and Olympic Games.

Facilities

ULBC’s boathouse and gym sits on the bank of the River Thames, in between Chiswick Bridge and Kew Rail Bridge, offering one of the most extensive stretches of water that a University Boat Club has to offer. In addition, ULBC’s gym boasts extensive indoor rowing equipment including PM5 concept 2 rowing machines, concept 2 static bikes, row perfect’s, and a complete strength and conditioning gym.
