Bars The bars will be showing the UEFA Champions League matches throughout May. Grab your mates and head down to support your favourite teams.

 

General It’s exam season! We know that finding somewhere to study can be a pain so we are helping out by turning our Library bar into a study space for the remainder of the year.

We will have plenty of seating, power points and wifi. We will be turning our music channels off and generally trying to provide a quiet atmosphere free from distractions for you to work in. Join us in The Library from Monday to Friday between 9:00am-4:00pm.

 

Tuesday 1st

Bars Champions League Part 1. Come and watch Liverpool Vs Roma in the Champions League Semi Final at The Library from 7:30pm. Can Roma over-turn Liverpool’s dominant first leg display?

 

Wednesday 2nd

Bars Champions League Part 2! Can Real Madrid capitalise on their 2 - 1 lead going into the second leg? Real Madrid Vs Bayern Munich Champions League Semi Final at The Library from 7:30pm.

 

Thursday 3rd

Fitness  Mid-week slump? Re-energise with our lunchtime Pilates class at Energybase gym from 1 - 2pm.


 

Friday 4th  

Music Your chance to see the famous 1980s ska band Bad Manners at the Venue. Bad Manners spent 111 weeks in the UK Singles Chart between 1980 and 1983! Expect to hear tunes such as Lip Up Fatty and Special Brew! Get tickets here.

Saturday 5th

General Exams got you feeling stressed? Try talking to a London Nightline helpline. Run by students for students, you can talk to them about anything – big or small – in complete confidence. They won’t judge you or tell you how to run your life: they’ll simply listen to whatever is on your mind. Find out more about Nightline here.

Clubs & Societies Join professional dancers Shem and Kristina for a one-hour Latin dance workshop at the famous Hammersmith Club. Tickets cost just £15. Get yours here before they sell out.


 

Monday 7th

Bars Celebrate the fact that you got through another Monday by rewarding yourself like a proper adult. Enjoy 2 for £10 cocktails in the bars from 7:00pm.


 

Tuesday 8th

Fitness Want to try a new type of yoga? Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterised by stringing poses together so that you move from one to another seamlessly, using breath (that’s why it’s commonly referred to as “flow” yoga). Energybase run Vinyasa classes on Tuesdays at 8 - 9pm at the Energybase studio.

Thursday 10th

Fitness This class will help to increase your cardiovascular fitness, burn fat and increase leg strength and muscular endurance with Energybase’s Aerobiking class. Takes place in the Energybase studio from 12:10pm - 12:50pm.


 

Friday 11th

Fitness Energybase members celebrate! Enjoy free personal training sessions and, for this weekend only, 15-minute Tui Na treatments (12th – 13th May). It’s a walk-in clinic so come on down and take advantage of these great perks!


 

Saturday 12th  

Music British singer-songwriter and guitarist Robyn Hitchcock & His LA Squires will be performing at ULU Live on the  12th May! Expect to hear songs including The Ghost in You and Virginia Woolf. Don’t miss out, get your tickets here.

Monday 14th

Clubs & Societies Do you play a jazz instrument and want to play in one of the country's leading student Big Bands? Looks like the Jazz Society's Big Band is for you!

Rehearsing every week in term time, the jazz society play a range of big band music: swing, latin, funk, as well as arrangements and showpieces. They meet at 6.30pm on Monday nights in the Upper Hall, on the third floor of Student Central. Bring an instrument and get involved!


 

Tuesday 15th

Clubs & Societies Fancy learning Kung Fu? The Shaolin Kung Fu club hosts free trial sessions for new members every Tuesday and Friday in room 3E between 6:30 - 8:30pm. It’s ideal for beginners right through to black belts. Why not try it out today for free?

Thursday 17th  

Music The Magic Numbers are coming to The Venue! The pop-rock band have sold over a million albums worldwide and are guaranteed to put on a great show. Expect to hear tunes including Love’s a Game and Forever Lost. Get your tickets here before it’s too late!

Friday 18th

Clubs & Societies Ever wanted to try breakdancing? Student Central Breakdance Society and London Breakdancing community offer the opportunity for everyone to give it a go, from complete beginners to seasoned pros.

Beginner lessons are taught every Friday from 6:00pm - 7:00pm in Room 3C with open free jam sessions from 7:00pm until 10:00pm.


 

Saturday 19th

Bars Manchester United vs Chelsea is always a huge game. Come and watch the FA Cup Final on the big screens in The Library! From 2:30pm onwards.

Monday 21st

General Our two-day National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) course starts today. The NRASTC is a supervision and rescue qualification for teachers working on the poolside or in the water during programmed activities, such as a swimming lesson.

Student Central is an accredited centre and runs a 2 day course that is open to students and members of the public. Training is split between our recently refurbished conference rooms and the Energybase pool. 

The course takes place today and tomorrow (21st and 22nd) from 8:45am - 15:00pm. Book your place here.

Tuesday 22nd

Clubs & Societies Ever wanted to try gymnastics? Impress your friends with new and exciting moves by heading along to our Gymnastics sessions! Whether a beginner or experienced gymnast, this is your chance to keep fit, learn new moves and make friends. Gymnastics is held on a Tuesday evening from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Talacre Sports Centre in Kentish Town (NW5 3AF).


 

Wednesday 23rd

General It’s exam season! If you’re looking for a quiet place to hit the books head to The Library bar between 9:00am and 4:00pm to make the most of our quiet study space.


 

Thursday 24th

Fitness Learn to do the perfect plank at our 15-minute Energybase class. When performed correctly, planks strengthen your abdominals, bottom, upper thighs, arms and shoulders. Join us at 1:30pm.


 

Friday 25th

Music  For a cultured evening of music and entertainment head to St George’s in Bloomsbury to witness the University of London Chamber Choir. Featuring a wide range of music from the 16th to 21st century on the theme of love, it is a perfect way to spend a summer's evening.  Tickets are £10 on the door and just £5 for students and concessions.


 

Saturday 26th

Bars It’s the big one! Champions League Final time. Come and watch it with us at the bar from 7:30pm.


 

Sunday 27th  

Music  ULU Live are pleased to announce that The Christians and Hue & Cry will be performing at our very own Venue. The Christians celebrate their 30th anniversary as a band and are re-touring with a full live set. Expect to hear songs including Words and Harvest For the World. Get your tickets here.

Fitness  Energybase offer Physiotherapy sessions from Jill Chapman, a Chartered physiotherapist. Her walk-ins happen on Mondays and Thursdays. Or you can book directly with the physiotherapist by calling 07956 586533 or emailing jillchapman@hotmail.co.uk.


 

Tuesday 29th  

Music The legendary Superchunk bring their new album and more to The Venue! After nearly three decades together, Superchunk’s music still combines loud punk fire and vulnerable pop energy. Wednesday 30th

Clubs & Societies Art Attack! The Art Society run life drawing classes with a wide range of models and a professional tutor from 6:30-9:30pm every Wednesday. Classes take place in Room 3E on the third floor of the Student Central.


 

Thursday 31st

Fitness Workout without the work with Energybase’s Zumba Tone class. Using fun Zumba dance techniques combined with weight-focussed exercises, Zumba toning is an easy-to-follow aerobic workout to keep you fit and help you tone muscles. 6:30pm - 7:30pm.
