Clubs & Societies The first two weeks of October is our Fresher’s trial sessions for Clubs and Societies. If you came to our Fresher’s Fair, you’ve probably seen what Student Central has to offer, but if you need a reminder, you can see the whole list here.

If you fancy giving an activity a go before signing up, this is your chance! Register for your two free trial sessions on the website on the relevant clubs page. You’ll have a week to use each trial session from when you sign up.

 

Sunday 1st

Fitness Not sure where to start in the gym? Learn the fundamentals of training with our One-Month Fitness course. Master bodyweight, machine and free weight exercises as well as getting a beginner's cardio plan. Fitness shouldn’t be complicated or intimidating, head down to Energybase now to book your place.

Clubs & Societies Auditions for the University of London Chamber Choir take place from 3pm today at Student Central. If you fancy joining a high quality, dynamic student chamber choir of 30 members, sign up online on their website or email them at ulcc@hotmail.com.

 

Tuesday 3rd

Bars Rally a team together for this week’s pub quiz and be in with a chance to win the prize! The quiz starts at 7pm sharp in The Library. PS. Make sure you download the Speed Quizzing app so you’re ready to go!

 

Clubs & Societies It's the first session of the year for our Fencing Club. Fancy giving it a go? Head over to Upper Hall in Student Central at 7pm to give it a go. 

 

Wednesday 4th

Clubs & Societies The night of the week that will be forever owned by our very own Clubs and Societies. The bars are the place to be - the snakebite flows and you literally cannot get away from the chants and the songs!

 

Clubs & Societies Take part in Canoe Polo's introductory Fresher's session tonight from 8:30pm at the Energybase pool. Just bring a spare tshirt and swimming kit. Full details can be found here.

 

Clubs & Societies Head to St John Ambulance LINKS first session tonight at 7:30pm. Find out about this great society, get training on how to deal with a major bleed and play some first aid related games! As always, they'll be heading to the pub afterwards. You'll find them in room 3C at Student Central.

 

Clubs & Societies It's our Art society's first class back of the new year. All abilities are welcome and it's just £6! This pays for a professional tutor and model, and includes some basic materials and refreshments. Find out more here.

Thursday 5th

General It’s the day of our Women’s Self Defence course. This course is an introduction to self defence for students studying in London. It’s a great way to enhance your personal safety with knowledge and practical skills taught by an experienced martial arts instructor. Sign up online. Hurry! Limited spaces available.

 

Clubs & Societies It's the first session of the year for our University of London Archery Club. The team meets every Thursday from 6-10pm in the Upper Hall at Student Central, and for new members, their first session is free!


Music The first of our Coffee House Sessions kicks off with Bella McKendree, a rising British star who has been championed by the likes of Clash, Music Week and Amazing Radio. She will be taking over The Library from 7pm.

 

Sport The Library will be showing the England vs Slovenia World Cup Qualifier match. Kick off at 7:45pm.

 

Friday 6th

Clubs & Societies Want to channel your inner Baywatch lifeguard? Join the University of London's Lifesaving Club for their first wet session  of the year. Practise rescue techniques including the line throw, swim and tow and manikin carry. Get your free taster session token online and head to the Energybase swimming pool for 7pm. Sport Head down to The Library to watch the Georgia vs Wales World Cup Qualifier. Kick off at 5pm.

 

Saturday 7th

Clubs & Societies The University of London Sailing Club will be holding a taster session for competent sailors today from 10am - 2pm  at Welsh Harp Sailing Club. The session will be followed by a BBQ and evening social. Find all the details here.

 

Clubs & Societies It’s the University of London Rifle Club guest day at the London Bridge Range. The price is £10 including all tuition, equipment, insurance and ammunition, with £5 refunded if you choose to join the club. Please email ulrifleclub@yahoo.co.uk to find out more.

Clubs & Societies Looking to take up Judo? Our Judo club is giving away a free session for anyone interested in giving the club a go. The team meets at midday for two hours and training is usually followed by a roast, yum! Just email ulujc@yahoo.co.uk if you fancy giving it a go. From beginners to black belts, everyone is welcome!

 

Clubs & Societies Try out ice hockey at the London Dragons beginners session at 7:30om at Sobell Leisure Centre. Warm athletic wear and a bottle of water are all you need! You'll find all the details here.

Sport Fancy watching the Wales vs Republic of Ireland World Cup Qualifier? The Library will be showing the match on the big screen. Kick off at 7:45pm.

Clubs & Societies It's time for the University of London's Lifesaving Club to meet. Apart from improving swimming and learning rescue techniques in the pool, members learn first aid skills and work towards qualifications certified by the Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS UK). No swimming gear needed at tonight's session! Head to the Bloomsbury Room (otherwise known as room 2A) at 7:30pm or email ululifesaving@gmail.com for more information. 

 

Wednesday 11th

Clubs & Societies Join St John Ambulance LINKS for the first crash course in major life-saving first aid. You'll find them in room 3C at 7:30.

 

Bars VK presents Nocturnal Nights with plenty of EDM magic at the bars. Come on down for some midweek fun from 8pm.

Music  It’s live music night at the Library. Expect music inspired by The Kooks, Alex Turner and Amy Winehouse from indie-rock musician Danny Starr. Catch him from 7pm.

General Our two-day Pitch Side First Aid course is designed to help students taking part in competitive sport. It covers trauma injuries commonly associated with contact sports. General Our RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) takes place today at the Energybase pool. This is an essential course for anyone considering a career in the leisure industry. It’s the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the United Kingdom and Ireland, complying with all the industry guidance.
