Outdoor First Aid Aimed specifically at orienteering and mountaineering clubs and designed to help those who will operate in remote, potentially hostile environments far from immediate medical or emergency assistance. The course looks at treating injuries with improvised first aid techniques, any environmental considerations and treatment of hypothermia and acute mountain sickness as well as casualty evacuation and AED (defibrillator training). Day two covers the specialist elements of the course and will take the class outside of Student Central to perform practical exercises and demonstrations in Russell Square that further develop candidates applied knowledge of the first aid techniques they have been taught.
