Overview

The NRASTC is a supervision and rescue qualification for teachers working on the poolside or in the water during programmed activities, such as a swimming lesson. It is suitable for anyone working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than the standing depth. Candidates must be at least 16 and must be capable of the following before taking part in the course. Swim 50m  Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool where training Climb out of the pool without help and without using steps or ladders Ideally candidates will also hold at least a Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) or coaching qualification. This award is also suitable to Lifesaving Instructors and Lifeguard Trainer Assessors to supervise activities during programmed classes and training.
