Student Central Women’s Self-Defence

The Student Central Women's Self-Defence Course is specifically designed for women living or studying in London who wish to enhance their personal safety with knowledge and practical skills taught by an experienced martial arts instructor.

The course is an excellent introduction to self-defence designed for beginners with no prior martial arts experience.  Participants will take part in theoretical discussions and practical demonstrations that will help them better understand their personal safety and give them the confidence to protect themselves.

Topics covered include:

  • Awareness.
  • Basic self-protection laws
  • Conflict communication
  • Attack scenarios
  • Grip breaking and self protection techniques

Please note this course is for over 18's only.

Course Costs

  • £30 - Student/Associate
  • £90 - Non Student

Each course runs for 5 consecutive weeks, please ensure you can go to all 5 sessions to get the most out of the course.

Signing Up

Please ensure you have registered with Student Central and that you have received and opened your account activation email (please check your junk mail). You can then add a ticket from one of the courses listed below to your basket and proceed with payment and entering your candidate details.

NOTE: You cannot attend this course without a purchased ticket from the website, for insurance purposes anyone without a ticket will be turned away. 

If the course date you are looking at is fully booked and you dont want to wait for the next one, the class has very strong ties with the Aikido club and you can look at joining them here.

Teacher: Sue Smith 

Female instructor who has taught Traditional Aikido at SOAS for over 25 years and holds a 4th Dan with the United Kingdom Aikikai. Her Self Protection Instructor qualification and Insurance is with the British Combat Association where she trained with Geoff Thompson and Peter Consterdine. Her qualifications include a basic level KEWAP instructor certificate in knives and edged weapons defence
